Your Future Is in the Crosshairs

Information shared at the Lake County Republican Women’s meeting on August 4 was an eye-opener for anyone who hasn’t already looked into the implications of the proposed PROTECT Act.

Those participating in the meeting – a larger crowd than usual – watched the very enlightening video presentation by Linda Sauer, a founding member of Montana Citizens Action Group. After the video, Tracy Sharp, Representative for HD12, added mind blowing insight into what the PROTECT Act actually adds up to – another attack on the Republic. We were not only given information – this is a call to action. Citizens need to stand up for their rights and the Republican form of government. ONE nation under God.

A text version of the points Linda is making can also be found in the July edition of the Last Chance Patriot Newsletter. Link to the newsletter HERE.

Video message in PDF format: Daines PROTECT Act article from May LCP newsletter

Links to contact information have been posted under “Take Action”, or, as Linda Sauer says, you can ask MTCAG for them by email: citizens@mtcag.org . Always remember to be polite in your communications.

Note that most committee members also have accounts on X:

@RepJeffHurd; @RepAmata; @RepMcDowell; #RepTimWahlberg (no account found); @Jim_Jordan; @RepLaMalfa; @RepMikeKennedy; @lisamurkowski; @SenJohnHoeven; @SenatorCantwell; @SenMullin; @SenTinaSmith; @JerryMoran; @SenBrianSchatz; @SteveDaines; @SenCortezMasto; @SenatorRounds; @SenatorLujan

We were informed that US Representative Ryan Zinke HAS withdrawn his support for HB 3773, but while thanking him, it doesn’t hurt to ask him to put pressure on others to do the same! In the US Senate, Senator Daines is apparently still pushing forward on the issue (SB 1967). Hopefully, we can get him to change his mind as well.

Slides shown by Tracy Sharp gave listeners serious pause.  If there ever was a time for grassroots to activate, it is now!

Legislature Overrides Governor’s Veto

The Daily Interlake wrote:

State will reimburse jails holding inmates awaiting mental health evaluations

by MICAH DREW Daily Montanan
| July 22, 2025 12:00 AM

“The Montana Legislature voted to override Gov. Greg Gianforte’s veto of a bill that would use state funds to reimburse counties some of the cost of holding inmates in local detention facilities while awaiting mental health evaluations or treatments.

House Bill 643, brought by Rep. Tracy Sharp, R-Polson, was seen by many as a stop-gap measure to address rising costs to counties that have seen increased mental health issues arising in civil and criminal cases.”

Standing for America

From America’s Future – the newsletter:

“The violence that began in Los Angeles last week, as rioters took to the streets to destroy property and threaten law-abiding citizens and law enforcement officers, has spread to New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Portland, among others. The purpose of the protests is to thwart Trump’s central campaign promise, which is indeed the cornerstone of his second term: to deport the tens of millions of foreigners who entered America illegally. […]

More importantly, there are the political officials who incentivized their crime by promising them healthcare, welfare, housing, and other freebies. Free for them, that is, and a great economic and political benefit to the corrupt ruling class that brought them here to suppress American wages and replace an electorate consisting of free-born men and women with a cohort of clients. But it costs us dearly, not just in dollars but in dignity, too. […]

And that’s why we elected Donald Trump — to help us get back our country, to make America great again. So we stand with him against the mobs backed by the political and corporate establishment, and we stand with him against the media attacking him for doing what’s right for America. […]”

‘America’s Worst Court’

Great reminder from a Lake County resident about why Montana citizens need to continue to fight judicial tyranny.

In an article from August 28, 2024, Mark Pulliam with The Federalist wrote:

“One elected official, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, has been suffering for bravely confronting the state court’s wrath and incompetence. Knudsen, a Republican, has become the victim of lawfare for simply doing his job — defending state laws in court.” Read the full article: How ‘America’s Worst Court’ Blocks Judicial Reform

A Constitutional Republic, Not A Democracy

This should not be news, but considering today’s confusion in the use of the term “democracy”, it doesn’t hurt to revisit an almost 60 year old video where FBI agent Dan Smoot states, among other things, that “democracy inevitably degenerates into dictatorship”.

Pachyderm Club – March 13

Our next Pachyderm meeting will be on Friday, March 13 at 12 noon at the Polson Rural Fire Station located at 25 Regatta Rd in Polson.  Our guest speaker for this meeting will be author Charles Garner.  Charles recently published two more books and will be speaking about the books and how they relate to today’s environment. The books will be available for purchase at the meeting for those interested in reading the books and sharing with your fellow Christians.

Below is a brief author’s bio as well as a synopsis of the upcoming meeting.

Author’s Bio:

Charles Garner is an author, curriculum designer, and teacher to the church. His B.A. is in Biblical Studies and Social Science. He holds a Master of Religious Education with emphasis in Biblical Exegesis and Theology. He has authored, edited, or designed over fifty resources and books for use in the
Christian community. His works include A Canary in a Coal Mine co-authored with Dr. John Powers, Beyond Expectations, Profiles from Paul, and It’s NOT Adam’s Fault!. His latest books, The Battle for the Republic and Called to Stand, reveal the sources of the weakening and destruction of the Republic and call on the Christian community to take on the full armor of God and stand their place along the battle line.

He and his wife, Nancy, live in the Northern Rockies of Montana.

Focus of the Meeting:

“The Battle for the Republic”

Every generation of believers faces a defining moment—a point when silence becomes betrayal and conviction demands a voice. The sixteenth century had its moment at Wittenberg, when one man’s courage broke the silence of a fearful church. We have come to that moment in our generation.
The world we inhabit is different in form but not in nature. The idols have changed their faces; the heresies have traded old robes for new rhetoric; yet the spiritual war remains the same. The enemies of truth are not new—they are the old powers of pride, deception, and fear wearing modern names. It’s the oldest lie dressed up in a new suit of clothes.
America is not merely divided—it is being discipled.

Ideas once confined to the margins now shape classrooms, laws, media, and the moral imagination of a nation. Many Christians sense the shift but struggle to name it—much less respond faithfully. The Battle for the Republic reveals how biblical truth, civic responsibility, and moral courage were quietly eroded—and why this unraveling was not accidental, but strategic. Drawing from Scripture, history, and the structure of the American constitutional order, Charles Garner exposes the forces reshaping the culture while clarifying what Christian engagement is—and is not. This is not a call to rage, violence, or theocracy. It is a call to clarity, stewardship, and courage rooted in conviction. Written for pastors, leaders, and thoughtful believers, The Battle for the Republic equips the church to understand the conflict of our moment—and to stand without surrendering either faith or conscience. We are engaged in a spiritual war in which the very souls of people, the Republic, and the church are at stake. This is not a time for retreat or capitulation. It is a time to practice the disciplines of the faith, to put on the whole armor of God, and — having done all — to stand. We claim the field; we do not abandon it. The next Great Awakening will not be imported from history; it will ignite in a remnant who refuses to kneel to the spirit of this age and who bow to Christ alone.

Central Committee supplemental meeting – March 24

LCRCC has decided to move the plenary meetings held at the Rural Fire Hall to the first Tuesday each month instead of Wednesday. In addition, there will be a supplemental monthly meeting for members over Zoom to make it easier to participate for those who cannot attend meetings in person. The first Zoom meeting will go at 6 pm on March 24 and should be a very interesting one since two candidates for U.S. Congress have promised to attend: Dr. Al Olszewski (for House) and Charles Walking-Child (for Senate).

In case you missed it:

The Republican women share pertinent information with county residents once a month. Monday March 2nd we learned how to work on getting the most out of our Medicare benefits. Pictured: Dixie Bisson.

Lake County Republicans prompted the Showboat Cinema in Polson to put on the Melania movie. The turnout of residents – including some beyond Lake County – was great. We filled the theater almost to the brim! What a treat to see scenes from the life of the First Lady! She is so beautiful both inside and out…

The opportunity was also offered to sign up for future information and participation, and to buy tickets for a silent auction.

Note that starting in May, the venue for the LCRW meetings will be the Rural Fire Station.

The role of the judiciary as seen by District Court Judge John Mercer

On January 23, 2026, Pachyderm attendees were pondering the role of the judiciary with the help of Judge John Mercer who has experienced many ends of the spectrum of government work. John Mercer emphasized the importance of judges restraining their power. If they allow politics to be brought into their decisions, they WILL lose respect. Judges should not be biased in their decisions.

John Mercer is going to run in 2026 in order to finish the four years remaining on Judge Cotter’s term.

The meeting minutes from the December 12 presentation is now available under “Who We Are/Pachyderm Club”. For example, great news about signature gathering for ballot initiatives; “There is a new legal requirement for signature gatherers – be aware for the upcoming election.  The signature gatherers are required to wear name badges and state who is paying them to collect signatures!”
