Kerr Dam (Seli’š Ksanka Q+lispe’ ) is a concrete gravity-arch dam located on the Flathead River, in Lake County, Montana
Pooling resources for full pool – a “Thank you” note
After last year’s dire predictions that Flathead Lake would probably never return to historic full pool lake levels in summers, here we are today, August 4, 2024 at .03 inches above full pool!
Many individuals and groups actively protested and pushed back against the corporate greed and false information regarding the causes of last year’s historic low lake levels, the first significant low levels since Kerr Dam was completed August 6, 1938.
We have all of us to thank. Groups who spearheaded these efforts include SHORE, National Organization to Save Flathead Lake, the Save Flathead Lake Citizens Action Group (sponsors of this website), Lake County Commissioners, some Federal Office holders, and MOST ESPECIALLY all the hundreds, even thousands, of active citizens who got informed and engaged.
What happened to global warming and the edict that last year was just the beginning, so get used to this new norm? Maybe it was just fake news. But we cannot be lulled into complacency. We must stay on watch.
We are very thankful that provisions of our Democratic Republic are still intact and that, indeed, the people have a voice and can influence outcomes.
In the meantime, the theft of Western Montana Water under the misleadingly named “Montana Water Rights Protection Act”, or the Tester-Daines bill that is fully supported by Gianforte continues on its Unconstitutional Track. We cannot stop the fight for freedom, equal protection, and property rights.
Thanks again to everyone!

The federal commission finds no fault with SKQ dam operations!?
(source: Flathead Beacon)
At the Pachyderm meeting in Polson February 9, community members weighed in: this cannot be allowed to stand. An appeal was made to anyone who has suffered any kind of injury – whether financial, property, or bodily – to write letters with any available proof (including photos) to elected officials. For suggestions, see SaveFlatheadLake.com.
Be sure to also send a copy of your letter to the warriors at SaveFlatheadLake.com, so they can document all that has been done.

SECURE YOUR WATER RIGHTS!!
All Montana residents need to be informed about the looming threat to their water rights. There is a group of people in Lake County who are working hard to help all residents of western Montana to understand what they need to do as individuals to protect the water rights associated with their property.Predictably the process to file an objection, as determined by the Montana Water Court, is filled with “gotchas” that could cause your objection to be “disregarded.” If you value your water rights and you want those rights to pass with your property when you sell or leave it to your heirs, find out what you need to do to fight this potential theft. There will be three educational forums in Lake County on the dates shown below. All three forums will be the same presentation of facts and information designed to help as many landowners as possible, and the information presented applies throughout Montana.by Linda Sauer |
