Lake County Republican Women – Feb 2

Welcome!

The February meeting will be held at the Miracle of America Museum. The speaker will be Annette Schiele – Executive Director of Fostering Mission Valley Families. Social time at 11:30, meeting at 12 noon.

At the Pachyderm meeting on January 9, LCRW also announced that the club will be sponsoring a Medicare learning/working session for everyone interested on March 2 from 11-1 at the new Western Montana Transit building located at 528 Main St SW in Ronan.  It is never too early to start to be educated about Medicare!

LCRCC plenary – Feb 4

Tracy Sharp, the Chair, has been asked to give the briefing he has with regard to “Influence Networks” at the plenary, so that will be on the Agenda. It will take up most of the meeting time, so little else will be on the agenda (but filling precinct seats will be because the filing deadline approaches).

In case you missed it:

The role of the judiciary as seen by District Court Judge John Mercer

On January 23, 2026, Pachyderm attendees were pondering the role of the judiciary with the help of Judge John Mercer who has experienced many ends of the spectrum of government work. John Mercer emphasized the importance of judges restraining their power. If they allow politics to be brought into their decisions, they WILL lose respect. Judges should not be biased in their decisions.

John Mercer is going to run in 2026 in order to finish the four years remaining on Judge Cotter’s term.

Great update by County Attorney Lapotka

The meeting minutes from the December 12 presentation is now available under “Who We Are/Pachyderm Club”. For example, great news about signature gathering for ballot initiatives; “There is a new legal requirement for signature gatherers – be aware for the upcoming election.  The signature gatherers are required to wear name badges and state who is paying them to collect signatures!”

MT Supreme Court Candidate, Judge Dan Wilson, met with Lake County residents September 26

Judge Wilson, a true Constitutional Conservative, outlined his thoughts on what is happening in the judiciary and what he wants to do to ensure it does what the Constitution intends for it to do. Read the meeting minutes under “Who We Are/Pachyderm Club”.

Plan on attending meetings if at all possible with your schedule. There is so much to know and learn. Your part in promoting what you learn could be as simple as telling your friends all about it!

Get involved!

Attend meetings to see how you can help. The wins we now celebrate can be attributed to people who put their hearts into the fight. There are so many ways YOU can contribute!

A reminder from our local thinker in the Hinterland: “Plato warned us: if you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, you are doomed to live under the rules of fools…”, and the fact of the matter is:

Local Action Equals National Impact. Stay in the Know!
