Our Chair, Tracy Sharp, is working on the Interim Water Committee and has news to share about a ruling by the Water Court Judge. It does not bode well for those living on the reservation (see link to Western Montana Water Rights blog). Water Court Approves Compact and Dismisses Objections | Western Montana Water Rights
“Today the water court issued findings of fact and conclusions of law for each of the evidentiary hearings held last year for the purpose of showing material injury as a result of the compact. The court also approved the Flathead Compact Decree and dismissed all objectors.
Like it or not, the large number of objectors to the Flathead Water Compact that remained in the proceeding until today are going to have to very quickly consider their options for appeal of this decision to the Montana Supreme Court.”
