Reasons for rejecting ballot initiative CI-128
Abortion is already legal in Montana. This initiative would make unfettered abortions constitutional.
- backed by Planned Parenthood and liberal groups;
- represented legally by former Democratic Governor’s chief legal counsel — who is also running to be Montanans’ Lt Governor;
- hired out-of-state signature gatherers;
- opponents say the language is “vague and could have serious downstream effects”.
‘Republican legislators in Montana have come out in opposition to the measure, including the all-Republican six-member Law and Justice Interim Committee, who said that the initiative was too broad and would limit the state from regulating abortion to protect patients. State Sen. Keith Regier (R-3) said the initiative is “vague and takes away legal protection from women.” ‘

If CI 128 passes, it will make Montana THE MOST pro-abortion state in the U.S. It is up to us to stop this from happening.
Without delay, please email your local paper(s) with a letter to the editor why to vote NO on CI 128 that will be on the November 2024 ballot. If this initiative passes, abortion up to viability will be a constitutional right in Montana.

We must stop this horrific initiative that is so degrading to humankind.
Please see talking points below. They are in the form of short paragraphs, and it’s always best to use your own language and use talking points as a guide. Short letters are more likely to get into the paper quickly, especially during election season. I’d like to see multiple letters weekly.
Today’s talking points focus on two aspects of CI 128, but there is much more to it. Those who are promoting this initiative are focusing on the right to privacy and reproductive rights of girls and women (at the expense of the life of their unborn baby). For the purpose of countering those arguments and other aspects of the initiative, I plan to email you a set of talking points each week The first attachment above is an excellent letter to the editor on this topic. You can glean talking points from that as well.
There needs to be an abundance of letters to the editor AND passing on information to family and friends.
