Candidate forums – an easy way to get educated on choices at the ballot box
On August 24 at the Finley Point Barn, attendees had the opportunity to hear from many of the candidates who are looking to work for us to keep Montana the place we all love and cherish: David Passieri (House District 91), Tracy Sharp (House District 12), Linda Reksten (House District 13), Ralph Foster (House District 15), Gale Decker (Lake County Commissioner), and Jennifer Fielder (Public Service Commission). Messages were also conveyed from candidates who could not participate in person: James Brown (Candidate for State Auditor), Ryan Zinke (US House Representative), Tim Sheehy (US Senate Candidate). The event was opened by Frank Mutch, and MC’d by the co-author of “A Canary in a Coal Mine”, Charles Garner. Closing comments were made by Tanner Smith (House Representative, former Gubernatorial Candidate and now a GOP National Committeeman).
It is amazing how eye-opening it is to hear from those who are willing to do so much heavy lifting for us to preserve our values and our lifestyle. Who knew what a difference the Public Service Commission can make, for example? It becomes very clear how important it is that every citizen registers to vote and uses that voice to help those who make so many sacrifices for us. Candidate forums are great opportunities to learn about each candidate and what they stand for – be educated when you fill out your ballot!
